The Dutch and the Belgian Societies for Parasitology organised a joint meeting in Antwerp on 19 October 2012. The venue was the Aula Janssens, Institute of Tropical Medicine, Sint-Rochusstraat 43, 2000 Antwerpen. The theme was “Challenges for the control of parasites”. The meeting included presentations by two invited speakers (Matthew Baylis, Department of Epidemiology and Population Health, University of Liverpool, UK UK and Willem Takken, Wageningen University, The Netherlands), 11 oral presentations and 20 posters by BSP and NVP members.

The Merial grant was awarded to Teun Bousema for his work on the epidemiology and infectivity of P. falciparum.
The Elanco grant for the best presentation at the 2011 BSP meeting was awarded to
Simbarashe Chitanga for his presentation entitled "Low level diminazene aceturate resistance in African trypanosomes, in the absence of drug pressure".
The Pfizer travel grant was awarded to Grietje Grit to attend the 12th International Symposium on Dendritic cells, October 7-11 2012, Daegu, South Korea.
A dinner, partly subsidised for BSP members, was organised at the Peerdestal restaurant.
